DELLAMORTE DELLAMORE: CEMETERY MAN (1994)

“I’d give my life to be dead…” From director Michele Soavi (The Church, Stage Fright) comes a macabre masterpiece, 1994’s CEMETERY MAN, also known aptly as DELLAMORTE DELLAMORE (Of Death, Of Love). This Italian-French-German co-production stars British actor Rupert Everett (My Best Friend’s Wedding) as Franceso Dellamorte, a graveyard keeper tasked with putting the dead that rise each night. Despite his gristly job, Dellamorte is a romantic at heart. But is he free to find love, or is fate bound to something far darker? And what does the Angel of Death have to do with all of it? Inspired by Tziano Sclavi’s novel Dellamorte Dellamore and his comic character Dylan Dog (who was visually based on Everett), this film is equal parts scary, comedic, and sexy, with surprising surreal and philosophical developments as the plot develops.
