LIVE MUSIC: Tony Jay, Thomas Dollbaum, Paul Arámbula, & 11111angels ~ Doors at 7:00 PM & Music at 8:00 PM

Tony Jay

Tony Jay is the musical project of Michael Ramos, the former member of (April Magazine, Cindy and many others). Tony Jay began recording in 2006, added a live band in 2017, and has released many digital EPs, several cassettes, and two records.

The music of Tony Jay is characterized by subtle observation and wry wit. The lyrics embody a restlessness coupled with Tony Jay's signature hopeful resignation. Here are the daily ins and outs of heartache, isolation, and yearning. But here too is attention, a will to go on even amidst surrender. Ideal company for those days when you're not sure you'll ever make it out the door.

Thomas Dollbaum

Thomas Dollbaum is a musician and songwriter from Tampa, Florida. In 2015, Dollbaum began attending University of New Orleans for his masters in poetry—while in the city, he began writing the songs that eventually became Wellswood, his debut album. Since its release in 2022 by Fat Possum subsidiary Big Legal Mess (AllMusic said he “paints the bleakest pictures with a knowing grin, delivering lyrics of rough-living characters and their grim stories as gorgeous, softly glowing Americana”), Dollbaum has toured heavily, sharing stages with folks like Damien Jurardo, Dougie Poole, and Superwolves.

Paul Arámbula

Born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona, Paul Arámbula spent his adolescence playing in and around the Southwest DIY scene. At the age of twenty, Arámbula moved to Berlin, where he started playing scratchy, improvised guitar sets under his own name. A few years later, having exhausted the possibilities of a dry acoustic guitar with all its strings tuned to E, he turned to layered keyboard soundscapes and ballads, which he continues to write and play in his new home base of New York. Still’s Keep is his fourth album, following Towantowanto (Musikií, 2021), The Grass Got In (self-released, 2020), and A Bit of Both (self-released, 2017). Beyond his solo work, Arámbula has also played in O de V, with Howard, Mandeville, and Recinos; the Chandails, with García, Julio Flores, and Noé García de Loera; and Vegetable, with Melissa Marriott and Anno. —Blank Forms
