SF Short Film Festival presents:
LAY LEFTY DOWN

Two women unexpectedly unite through stories of grief and laughter, after their family throws a surprise memorial for a left breast.

IT WAS AN ACCIDENT!

Convinced he's accidentally killed a man at an orgy party, a panicked young man enlists his best friend to help him deal with the body. As the two scramble to figure out what to do next, fear, confusion, and a complete lack of common sense lead them deeper into an increasingly absurd mess.

GLUE

Blending sharp humor with emotional honesty, GLUE follows a young woman who spends a single day working up the courage to have a conversation she’s been rehearsing in her head for weeks. It’s a heartfelt comedy about people-pleasing, growing up, and the terrifying — and liberating — act of finally saying what you really feel to the person you love most.

GOOGLE TRANSCRIPT

Two men in conflict are thrown into chaos when a new Google app recalls—and eventually predicts—their conversations, turning a petty disagreement into a confrontation they can't escape.

HAWAII

In a near future where the elderly poor are rounded up in kill shelters like stray dogs, a grumpy retiree forms an unexpected bond with the child who adopts him. Think "Black Mirror" meets Pixar's "Up".

PARALLEL PROCESS

A neurotic engineer fears AI is replacing his job and life’s meaning, while quirky friends and awkward dates push him to rediscover his humanity.

RESPAWN

A man awakens in a mysterious open world with no memory of how he arrived. As unseen dangers close in and each failed escape only deepens his paranoia, he begins to wonder whether survival is even possible. Are his anxieties getting the better of him, or is he repeating a loop of his own doing?

THE POLE

When a 40-something mom installs a pole in her bedroom to feel strong and sexy again, she reconnects to a side of herself she thought was long gone. But between all the demands of life and motherhood, her sexy new hobby starts to feel like just another thing she doesn't have time for. The Pole is a heartfelt comedy about defying age, owning your body, and dancing like no one’s watching—especially when they are.

The short film— what a perfect genre. Like the perfect snack. Or the very best poem: intensity and imagination distilled down to the most crucial and poignant of words. Short films are the quintessential starting point, and for some filmmakers, the definitive end goal.

The San Francisco International Festival of Short Films was launched in 2006. Since then SF Shorts has showcased incredible engaging independent films that are quick to make a statement, tell a story or express an idea. Recently this festival merged with the 29 year old San Francisco IndieFest, combining SF Shorts' curatorial vision with SF IndieFest's festival presentation expertise. This combined event now presents one week of the best short films from around the world at an historic San Francisco art house theater.
