SPOTLIGHT on BOB WEIR: Documentary & LIVE MUSIC from DOUBLE HELIX PEACE TREATY (Presented by JOKERMEN PODCAST & folkYEAH!) ~ 7:00 PM

Jokermen Podcast and (((folkYEAH!))) present:
A TRIBUTE TO BOB WEIR
featuring a screening of the 1972 documentary FILLMORE: THE LAST DAYS:

This rock 'n' roll documentary looks at San Francisco's Fillmore West concert hall, a music hub in the 1960s that saw established and up-and-coming performers play to packed houses. Though different versions of the venue's name were later resurrected and attached to other places, the Fillmore West closed in July 1971. The documentary focuses on those last concerts organized by powerful music promoter Bill Graham, with performances by Carlos Santana, the Grateful Dead and other headliners.

plus an opening tribute set from DOUBLE HELIX PEACE TREATY:

Double Helix Peace Treaty draws from the vast well of inspiration in their surroundings to produce a sound that’s wholly their own. From the mystical landscapes of West Marin County to the industrial wastelands at the City’s edge, their music cultivates a sense of place that few bands today accomplish. Here, they belong to a long lineage of California art – the writings of Philip K. Dick, for example, have a strong presence in the band’s lyrics, and their jammy Americana at times gestures towards the Grateful Dead. But the band’s cohesive blend of folk-punk-psychedelia never turns overly nostalgic, always pushing boundaries and experimenting with new forms.

DHPT’s latest EP, “Circles/Deer Hunter Xtreme,” recorded in Long Beach under the production auspices of Dutch Interior’s Connor Reeves, takes the Double Helix live sound in new directions, without sacrificing their inventive style and composition. Out now on American Death Records.
