Mollusk presents:
DOLPHIN MARKET
This is Issue 2 of Memory: "Dolphin Market" and it features Kevin Dickson from Seal Beach; people like to call him the best surfer you've never heard of haha. He's super low key and rips on anything. For the music I got Brian, of Monde UFO, into my studio last summer and filmed him playing an improv noise set consisting of stand up bass and saxophone. And we have our buddy Jeff (Dismal) reading poetry at moments throughout the film. These 3 together in this film capture something special creatively and I'm really excited to share it with the public. The entire film was shot on minidv, vhsc, and hi8 over the past year and a half. Dolphin Market is an old market in Seal Beach that has been closed for as long as we all can remember and Kev lives right next door to it, so that being the title of the film only made sense.

April Magazine
April Magazine combines the talents of a handful of Bay Area indie pop notables into a collective that releases fragile and noisy songs that land right in the sweet spot between Velvet Underground hum and Pastels warble with a heavy dose of slowcore static in the mix. A string of digital singles primed listeners for the group's sound; late 2021 brought both a collection of said releases -- If the Ceiling Were a Kite, Vol. 1 -- and their first LP, Sunday Music for an Overpass.
Monde UFO
Monde UFO is Ray Monde and Kris Chau. We are sometimes graced with the presence of our Drummer Joe Lyle.
Ray Monde concepted Monde UFO as a way to synthesize his foundations in Jazz and Punk. In a warehouse on Skid Row while playing in other projects, he started creating what would become the first Monde UFO album 7171. He used the influence of Bossa Nova for the vocal stylings and experimental Sound Healing as a guide to navigate through the saturated Music Industry.
Kris Chau is a visual Artist with no formal musical training. Ray decided adding a newcomer to music would allow Monde UFO to channel a fresh energy into the music and performance. Kris Chau looks to other Art Rock Luminaries such as Brian Eno and Yoko Ono for her guidance. For the live performance she utilizes Qi Gong, sound healing, and folk dances inspired by Shamans and Shrine Maidens.
Joe Lyle is an generational talent. When he doesn’t bless us with his presence he is playing with Chris Cohen, Cass McCombs, Mac Demarco, and has played with Solange as well as many incredible talents of the Music industry. If you see him tell him how much you liked his drumming in Monde UFO. Please.
