"Get Off the Internet" Film Festival
Louise Weard's CASTRATiON MOViE ANTHOLOGY II: The Best of Both Worlds (Canada, 2025)
Bay Area Premiere | Co-presented by MOViES FOR MANiACS + FRAMELiNE
(Presented with Intermission)
MOViES FOR MANiACS is proud to present the Bay Area Premiere of Louise Weard's latest mind-melting Castration chapter. Easily one of the most exciting and audacious films of 2025, The Best of Both Worlds is "a labyrinthine post-modern epic about gender." Circle (Alex Walton), who is trying to leave a trans separatist cult in New York, taps into the transgressive audacity of John Cassavetes and the multi-faceted satire of John Waters and Lina Wertmüller. This equally hilarious and disturbing deconstruction of modern times is truly the new wave of 2020s Independent cinema.
Written and Directed by Louise Weard, the cast of: Ivy Wolk (Anora), Lea Rose Sebastianis (The All Golden), Hesse Deni (Brain Death), Jack Haven (I Saw the TV Glow), Alexandra McVicker (The Serpent’s Skin), Betsey Brown (Actors), Theda Hammel (Stress Positions), and Peter Vack (www.RachelOrmont.com), amongst a mix of other emerging talent and weird and wonderful cameos. Music by Ravine Angel, DOOR EATER, Uboa, Nedezuga, and Alex Walton.
Hosted by Jesse Hawthorne Ficks, co-presented by Frameline and is screening as part of the "Get Off the Internet" Film Festival, which showcases radical cinema, unavailable to stream online. (This is a stand alone chapter in Weard's CASTRATiON Anthology, meaning you do not need to have seen Anthology I.) NOTE: Hot Dogs and Tofu Pups will be on hand for audience members who take the leap at conquering this cinematic Mount Everest. Running Time: 300 minutes (w/ a built-in intermission). Unrated with extreme mature content. No one under the age of 18 permitted.
