MY DOG: THE PARADOX

From the creator of The Oatmeal and Exploding Kittens, My Dog: The Paradox is a darkly funny animated short about a dog named Rambo – and the weird, tender, chaotic paradox of loving an animal that will one day break your heart.

SWEET ENOUGH TO EAT

Every cupcake is born knowing their purpose in life... Look amazing... Bring joy... get eaten. Simple, right? But simple isn't always easy when you're 90% sugar.

TO HAVE AND TO HOLD

Two characters must grapple with the complexities of their relationship and decide whether or not to part ways.

THE SCARLET TAMAGOCHI

A crime has taken place in classroom 4B! A classmate’s most precious toy, the Scarlet Tamagochi, has been stolen, turning Iñaki and his turtle friend Cecilio into 1940s-style private detectives. But dark forces stand in their way, and solving the case won’t be easy.

URAYULI

After surviving a devastating train crash, 9-year-old Aurora finds herself alone in the formidable Alaskan wilderness. She is completely isolated from all signs of life until she encounters a mysterious urayuli. Terrified by its monstrous appearance, Aurora flees deeper into the forest. However, as the sun rises and reveals the beauty of her surroundings, she begins to realize that neither the wilderness nor Urayuli is as threatening as they first appeared.

FINAL PERFORMANCE OF THE YEAR

On the final day of a difficult year, The Sun struggles to find a way to bring hope to the world.

BRAIN_ROT_VOL1.MP4

In frantic bursts of digitally-degraded symbols and distorted sounds, this short film explores the absurdity of our attention span by turning classic films into sequences of deep-fried hieroglyphic emojis.

BIRD SONG

On a rainy night in the heart of the city, a hooded, an unstable man engineers a dead bird with his own voice, in order to sing his own bird songs and ultimately get the perspective he needed.

BEAST OF THE SEINE

When the children of a quaint Parisian village are terrorized by a sinister threat, a remarkable dog emerges as the unlikely hero, until a shocking revelation changes the town forever. Inspired by real events.

BABY RAY 2: DADDY CON CARNE

Oh look, it’s another voicemail from Daddy! This time he got himself a job at the carnival. He just needs a quick favor. And some cash. And a ride. And a place to stay. But don’t worry; this time he has a plan to make it all better.

18 MONTHS

18 Months is a true story about the unexpected paths to becoming a family. When Danny and Pete find a newborn in a subway station, their journey to adopt him is retold to mirror the stages of pregnancy—challenging traditional definitions and proving it doesn't always take a man, a woman, and 9 months to build a family.

The short film— what a perfect genre. Like the perfect snack. Or the very best poem: intensity and imagination distilled down to the most crucial and poignant of words. Short films are the quintessential starting point, and for some filmmakers, the definitive end goal.

The San Francisco International Festival of Short Films was launched in 2006. Since then SF Shorts has showcased incredible engaging independent films that are quick to make a statement, tell a story or express an idea. Recently this festival merged with the 29 year old San Francisco IndieFest, combining SF Shorts' curatorial vision with SF IndieFest's festival presentation expertise. This combined event now presents one week of the best short films from around the world at an historic San Francisco art house theater.
